1 Purpose

This SOP establishes the standardized process for accurately picking, verifying, and packaging wholesale orders at the Distribution Hub. Order fulfillment is the core operation that directly impacts customer satisfaction, inventory accuracy, and compliance.

Compliance Context: Every item picked must match Metrc package tags exactly. Mismatches result in manifest errors, potential compliance violations, and delivery rejections.

2 Scope

8 Procedure
⚠️ GOLDEN RULE

Pick → Scan → Mark → Place. Every item, every time. No exceptions.

8.1 Preparation

Step 1: Retrieve Pick Ticket

  1. Remove order from board (starting with oldest/RUSH first)
  2. Read customer name, delivery date, and special instructions
  3. Label tote with customer name using marker

8.2 Picking Process

Step 2: Locate Item in Inventory

  1. Read SKU and product name from pick ticket
  2. Go to inventory location (organized by category)
  3. Find matching product using FIFO (oldest first)

Step 3: Verify Metrc Tag

  1. Scan Metrc tag on package with barcode scanner
  2. Confirm product name matches pick ticket
  3. Verify quantity matches (count units if necessary)

Step 4: Record & Place

  1. Write Metrc tag number on pick ticket next to item (last 4 digits sufficient)
  2. Highlight/checkmark the line item as picked
  3. Place item in customer's tote
  4. Repeat for all items on order

8.3 Order Completion

Step 5: Final Verification

  1. Count total items in tote vs pick ticket line items
  2. Verify all lines are checked off
  3. Check for substitutions or shortages — note on ticket

Step 6: Package & Stage

  1. Place pick ticket on top of items in tote
  2. Seal tote if required (high-value orders)
  3. Move tote to Staging Area by delivery route
  4. Mark order as "Picked" in Distru (or notify supervisor)
